At the international conference “Social Innovations for Sustainable Regional Development” hosted by Klaipeda University from 7-9 May 2026, leaders from several European Universities Alliances came together to discuss how they can move beyond short-term projects and become lasting strategic partnerships with long-term impact.
ENHANCE was represented by Naveed Syed in the high-level roundtable “Sustainability of European Universities Alliances: From Ambition to Long-Term Impact”, alongside representatives from EU-CONEXUS, FORTHEM, SEA-EU, and CHARM-EU.
Discussions focused on how alliances can strengthen long-term sustainability through stronger governance structures, institutional integration, and deeper engagement across their university communities. Participants agreed that European alliances should become embedded in universities’ core missions, from education to internationalisation and strategic development.
The conference also provided an opportunity for alliance leaders to exchange good practices and explore future cooperation, underlining the growing role of European Universities Alliances in shaping the future of higher education in Europe.
