Through international peer-to-peer networking within our Enhance academic community, you will learn about global environmental issues and define local opportunities together. Physics Informed Neural Networks : Applications to Geotechnical Engineering in Aachen

We are happy to announce that RWTH Aachen is offering its second ENHANCE Blended Intensive Programme on “Physics Informed Neural Networks Applications to Geotechnical Engineering”!

 

The course is organized by the Institute of Geomechanics and Underground Technology and is composed of an online and onsite part:

First, students will participate in an online introductory course from July 22 – 26. During those days, the principles behind machine learning are discussed and students will learn about the tools they will work with, which is mainly Python code written in Jupyter Notebooks. During the week on campus, from July 29 – August 2, students will apply their newly acquired theoretical knowledge in a hackathon-style workshop. Besides the coursework, social events such as Pub Crawls and local city tours will be held.

ENHANCE Micro Programme on Gender and Diversity in Science, Technology and Society


This ENHANCE offer leads to the acquisition of 3, 6 or 9 ECTS upon successful participation in module 1 (online course, 3 ECTS), module 2 (onsite summer school, 3 ECTS) and module 3 (online study project, 3 ECTS). More details about the different modules can be found below. Instruction language is English.

 

The offer is aimed at students (Bachelor, Master or doctoral degrees) of natural, planning and technical sciences, mathematics and computer science as well as students who want to acquire competences in Science and Technology Studies (STS) with a focus on gender and diversity. In the Micro Programme, the extent to which gender and diversity are to be understood as context-related results of historical, political, social and cultural processes and can be studied scientifically is elaborated. Participants will acquire the competence to understand and critically and reflexively evaluate the structuring of social inequality and intersectional positioning through science and technology.

The 6 ECTS course “Ethics of AI” takes an innovative and experimental approach to ethics with an interdisciplinary focus enabled by collaboration between Computer Science, Engineering Science and Philosophy of Technology departments. It involves engaging with the theoretical and practical approaches that address the intersection of ethics and technology, in this case AI.

SYNERGIC URBAN SYSTEMS 2024: ENHANCE Summer School in Milano

The Summer School SYNERGIC URBAN SYSTEMS is a hybrid summer school (blended intensive program; 4 ECTS). It is organized within the ENHANCE alliance by the following universities: RWTH Aachen, TU Berlin, Politecnico di Milano, NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim), Polytechnic University of Valencia, Warsaw University of Technology, ETH Zurich.


It aims to provide participants with skills necessary to design innovative interdisciplinary approaches to urban systems integration across key sectors, including climate change, health and well-being, social and economic life, urban natural environment, accessibility and connectivity, equality and inclusiveness.

WUT International Summer Schools. Five options

Students may take part in lectures and workshops focused on transferring practical knowledge, which will be conducted by renowned professors and researchers from WUT. Five programs available: Modelling and improvement of processes in supply chains, process modelling, modern electrical engineering, photovoltaics and photonics.

Technische Universität Berlin invite ENHANCE Alliance Students to an international Summer Course on “Ethics and Epistemology of AI”, which is offered in the framework of an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme.

In the first week of May, we will all gather in Berlin to decode together values, assumptions and stereotypes that are backed into AI artefacts by (re)coding them and by examining their impact on us, others, and the world we live in via a qualitative self-experiment.

Summer School on Critical Sustainability

The 6 ECTS course “Critical Sustainability” provides a digital space to learn, reflect, discuss and take action together. The participants will jointly analyse existing power relations as well as society-nature relations and democratise them. They will broaden their understanding of sustainability through various interactive, artistic and group-dynamic formats.

The course is the compulsory core module of the ENHANCE Certificate on Sustainability issued by TU Berlin.

Summer School on Synergic Urban Infrastructures - ENHANCE

The Summer School VLC_SYNERGIC URBAN INFRASTRUCTURES aims to provide participants with the necessary skills to design and use interdisciplinary methodologies to maximise synergies between urban infrastructures (green, blue, energy, social, mobility, housing, etc.).

The course will be based on co-creation processes in which students, tutors, decision-makers, and representatives of civil society and the economic sector will collectively develop diagnoses, visions, and proposals for a set of strategic spatial and functional units in the city of Valencia.

Winter School on Data Literacy

The ENHANCE Winter School on Data Literacy provides an opportunity to acquire and use the basic skills needed to transform data into knowledge.

The winter school has been designed so that theoretical and practical activities are carried out. Participants will be divided into groups that will develop activities both face-to-face and online format.

Winter School on Gender and diversity in science, Technology and society
