From 23 to 27 March 2026, Gdańsk University of Technology proudly welcomed 20 administrative staff members from Politecnico di Milano – two valued members within the ENHANCE Alliance. The visit formed part of the Italian AWESOME programme and offered participants the opportunity to develop new skills, exchange experiences, and deepen international cooperation.
This study visit was yet another testament to the strong connections and lasting relationships that ENHANCE fosters among its member universities and beyond.
Immersive Learning and Cross-Cultural Exchange
A rich programme prepared by the ENHANCE Office at Gdańsk Tech combined intensive training with meaningful networking and cultural immersion. Participants were welcomed by Professor Józef E. Sienkiewicz, Vice-Rector for Cooperation, before exploring the campus with Maria Doerffer.
Over the following days, colleagues from both universities engaged in job shadowing sessions, observing daily operations across a range of university units. The programme also included interactive workshops and discussions on organisational practices, digital tools, and cultural diversity in the workplace, reinforcing shared values of openness and collaboration.
Building Competence and Connection
The exchange went far beyond the development of administrative competencies. It provided invaluable opportunities to build personal relationships, strengthen mutual understanding, and share best practices in areas such as internal communication, management, and international cooperation.
For both Gdańsk Tech and Politecnico di Milano staff, the experience also served as a springboard for future mobility and cooperation projects under the ENHANCE alliance and beyond.
Discovering the Region Together
Cultural and integration activities played an equally important role throughout the week. The guests explored Gdynia and Sopot, discovering the history and character of the Tricity area. Shared moments such as culinary workshops on making pierogi created space for connection in an informal and joyful atmosphere.
A Living Example of ENHANCE in Action
This visit once again demonstrated how the ENHANCE European University Alliance brings people together: bridging institutions, cultures, and ideas. Through initiatives like these, ENHANCE continues to build a vibrant, collaborative European higher education community, rooted in trust, friendship, and shared ambition.
