The ENHANCE Alliance has launched the first edition of the ENHANCE Girls in STEM competition, aimed at secondary school girls between 16 and 19 from Spain, Germany, Italy, Poland, Norway and Sweden. With the objective of encouraging participation amongst girls in STEM studies, the initiative promotes responsible engineering, combining traditional engineering topics with social and environmental issues, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Â
The participants are required to present a solution for a problem in the local community using Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, with areas of interest related to the following topics: Public transportation systems; green spaces, energy consumption, resource efficiency and natural disasters
Â
Participants from each country have time until the 6 May 2022 to present a short video of their proposal and two finalists from each country will then be selected to participate in the next stage of the competition. The selected candidates will get the unique opportunity to present their proposals at the prestigious Women in Tech Summit in Warsaw, Poland on the 6-7 June 2022, working side by side with mentors from leading Universities of Technology in Europe, as well as having the opportunity to win fantastic prizes.
Â
Last year, the Women in Tech Summit received over 8300 participants from 103 countries, making it a key meeting point for women in STEM. As well as the unique experience it will offer, the first three places in the finals will receive interrail tickets, IT equipment and travel to ENHANCE universities.
Â
The ENHANCE Alliance has created this initiative with the main objective to support young talented girls, enabling them to undertake studies at one of the ENHANCE universities in a STEM subject.
Â
The ENHANCE Alliance fosters the promotion of gender equality and motivates its members and partners to give visibility to this excellent initiative, as well as to encourage participation amongst local schools and further education institutions.
