ENHANCE Alliance at the EIT “Women and Girls in STEM” Event

STEM Ambassadors Inspire the Next Generation

On October 16, the ENHANCE Alliance proudly took part in the EIT Women and Girls in STEM event in Brussels, bringing together hundreds of young women and girls from across Europe to explore the future of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Empowering role models for the next generation

Just one day earlier, on 15 October, the newly selected ENHANCE STEM Ambassadors gathered at the Maastricht University Brussels Hub for their onboarding workshop and experienced what ENHANCE is all about: collaboration, learning, and a shared purpose. Facilitated by ENHANCE Work Package Leads Hannah Worringer and Melih Özkardes, and by Stavroula Manolaki, TU Delft, the session focused on co-creating the Ambassadors’ role as visible, relatable role models who can inspire more women to pursue STEM careers.

The onboarding meeting was followed by the EIT “Girls Go STEM” dinner, where the Ambassadors joined 120 girls from 28 European countries. The evening offered an incredible opportunity to connect, exchange experiences, and share perspectives on studying and working in STEM.

ENHANCE at the EIT “Women and Girls in STEM” event

On 16 October, ENHANCE proudly represented its alliance at the large-scale EIT event, engaging directly with high school students and educators from across Europe. At the ENHANCE booth, the STEM Ambassadors sparked countless conversations about studying technology, engineering, and science at Europe’s leading technical universities — and what it means to be a woman shaping the future of STEM.

Celebrating creativity, collaboration, and excellence

The event also featured the finals of the EIT “Women and Girls in STEM” competition, where finalist teams from Cyprus, the UK, and Moldova presented their innovative projects. ENHANCE contributed to the event by providing pitch training to all finalist teams, led by Dorota Chrominska from Warsaw University of Technology.

🏆 Team Cyprus was crowned the overall winner, while Team UK received the Public Choice Award, voted by more than 2,000 participants from across Europe. The award was presented by Hannah Worringer, ENHANCE Impact Officer — offering the winning team an exclusive visit to one of ENHANCE’s member universities.

ENHANCE jury expert Swaathi Vetrivel from Delft University of Technology joined the competition jury, helping evaluate the innovative pitches with expertise and enthusiasm.

Collaboration that drives impact

TheENHANCE Alliance extends its heartfelt thanks to EIT, Girls Go STEM, and partners Natalia Molina Calavita, Ligita Baleisyte, and Marta Lorusso for their collaboration in creating such an impactful event. Together, we are advancing inclusion, diversity, and excellence in STEM — empowering the next generation to engineer a better future for Europe.
