Navigating Europe’s Future Together
The ENHANCE Summit 2025 has successfully concluded in Warsaw, bringing together students, academics, researchers and staff from nine leading European Universities of Technology. Hosted by Warsaw University of Technology with the generous support of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), this year’s Summit, taking place Dec 2-4, marked a significant milestone in ENHANCE’s five-year journey (happy birthday to us!) ‒ and in the wider development of a more connected, innovative and competitive European Higher Education Area.
A fleet moving forward
This year’s Summit embraced the symbol of a paper boat ‒ a simple vessel that, when placed within a fleet, moves further and faster through collective momentum. Throughout workshops, discussions and community activities, participants folded their own boats, each reflecting a unique perspective, expertise and aspiration. Together, these individual vessels formed the growing “ENHANCE fleet” ‒ a metaphor for how our Alliance brings together different universities, cultures and disciplines to navigate a shared direction: towards a more innovative, more collaborative and more excellent Europe.
ENHANCE Conversations 2025
The centrepiece of the Summit, ENHANCE Conversations 2025, explored the timely theme: “Boosting European Competitiveness: The Strategic Role of Universities of Technology.”
The panel examined how cross-border alliances such as ENHANCE can strengthen Europe’s technological sovereignty, accelerate pathways from education to innovation, and safeguard Europe’s global competitiveness.

Co-creating the next chapter
Throughout the Summit, participants contributed insights that will shape ENHANCE’s next phase ‒ from new mobility and education formats to shared learning opportunities and joint approaches to Europe’s most pressing challenges. Workshops, interviews and student-generated content echoed a simple but powerful message: Europe moves forward when we move forward together.
Just like the growing paper fleet displayed throughout the venue, ENHANCE’s strength lies in the diversity and creativity of its community. Throughout the Summit, new ideas and collaborations took shape in real time. The photos shared alongside this article offer a glimpse into the many initiatives that were launched or accelerated in Warsaw ‒ from co-creation workshops on future learning formats to joint content development and fresh project concepts that will benefit students, academics and staff across the Alliance. The energy in these moments reflects a simple truth: when our universities come together, innovation begins immediately.
