The recent Future Learning event hosted by ENHANCE member Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) brought together colleagues from across the alliance to address a key challenge in higher education: how to design learning environments that respond effectively to the needs of Generation Alpha. The event forms part of the ENHANCE+ Work Package Future Learning, led by UPV, which supports ENHANCE’s mission to act as an alliance for the Future of Europe by addressing evolving societal, industrial, and research needs through innovative education.
Collaboration Across Leading European Universities
Participants from Warsaw University of Technology, Chalmers University of Technology, Technische Universität Berlin, NTNU, Politecnico di Milano, Delft University of Technology, ETH Zurich, RWTH Aachen University, and UPV contributed their expertise, marking the first in-person collaboration within this Work Package. The exchange strengthened ENHANCE’s shared understanding of how educational strategies must evolve to remain relevant in a rapidly changing technological landscape.
Smart and Personalised Learning for STEM Education
Discussions focused on transformative concepts for 21st-century STEM education, with particular attention to Smart Learning Environments that combine digital technologies with innovative pedagogical approaches. Over the two-day event, participants explored how Personalised Learning can enhance academic performance and inclusion by addressing diverse learner needs and learning styles.
Supporting Europe’s Green and Digital Transition
ENHANCE aligns its educational initiatives with the European Innovation Agenda, emphasising the development of green and digital skills to support Europe’s twin transition. Through transdisciplinary projects, challenge-based learning, and living labs, ENHANCE Work Packages foster creativity, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and lifelong learning, while strengthening cooperation between universities and society.
From Strategic Dialogue to Practical Impact
The insights generated during the Future Learning workshop translate into practical strategies for shaping the future of education. By integrating these approaches into teaching and learning practices, ENHANCE aims to better equip students with the skills required for the European labour market and to contribute to a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable educational future.
