The ENHANCE Alliance’s inaugural Impact Orientation Event focused on aligning sustainable initiatives with the New European Bauhaus Impact Model, fostering collaboration among member institutions to drive meaningful, positive change in communities across Europe.

On October 17-18, the ENHANCE Alliance marked a milestone with its first Impact Orientation Event, hosted at the Brussels Office of our ENHANCE member NTNU. This event brought together Alliance members, partners, and sustainability advocates to advance ENHANCE’s commitment to positive and lasting impact through strategic mapping, analysis, and maximization efforts.

The gathering focused on aligning our impact initiatives with the principles of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Impact Model. The NEB, an initiative launched by the European Commission, promotes sustainable, inclusive, and aesthetically enriching approaches to architecture, urban planning, and the built environment. By bridging science, technology, culture, and art, the NEB aims to inspire community-centered projects that reflect the EU Green Deal’s vision. In his keynote presentation, Professor Han Vandevyvere shared insights on applying the NEB model to enhance ENHANCE’s mission and projects. His presentation underscored the NEB’s core pillars: sustainability, inclusion, aesthetics, collaboration, innovation, and cultural heritage.

The event provided a rich agenda of interactive workshops and World Café sessions, exploring sustainable practices in internationalization, project management, community-building, and governance. Participants engaged in cross-disciplinary discussions on integrating sustainability and inclusive development in ENHANCE’s efforts, ensuring that each project delivers measurable, positive impacts across our communities.

ENHANCE Secretary General Naveed Syed emphasized the importance of events like this in aligning member institutions toward common goals. He stated, “This Impact Orientation Event is a cornerstone in our mission to drive impactful, sustainable initiatives across our universities and partners. It’s inspiring to see our collective ideas shaping a stronger, more resilient Alliance.”

A Step towards sustainble Alliance Impact

Special thanks go to NTNU Brussels for hosting, Professor Vandevyvere for his thought-provoking presentation, and ENHANCE Quality and Impact Officer, Hannah Worringer, for her meticulous coordination of the event. With this collaborative effort, ENHANCE is well-positioned to make a tangible difference in creating a resilient, inclusive future for our communities.

The Impact Orientation Event stands as a foundational step in ENHANCE’s journey toward maximising the Alliance’s sustainable impact. This inaugural event set a solid framework for future initiatives, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable innovation, community involvement, and meaningful change across Europe.
