ENHANCE Incubator students participated in the second workshop at NTNU

The first Incubator Challenge Workshop was held at UPV in March under the topic of artificial intelligence in university administration. The second workshop, which took place at NTNU, tackled the diversity and inclusion of students with fewer opportunities at the university.

The six teams, composed of members from POLIMI, TUB, UPV, and WUT, have been working together since last September. The issues the teams chose to address and the improvements they will bring to their field will hopefully help the ENHANCE partners but also other universities in the future.

To help the members of the teams achieve their goals, ENHANCE offers its support but also some activities like the monthly meetings. Among those, we find these two workshops organised at UPV and NTNU in Spring. The idea is not only to bring all the ENHANCE Incubator’s participants together but also to teach them essential skills that will help them with their work on their project and also for their future.

Below is a list of the main contributions from experts during this workshop:

  • Senior Advisor Janet Rautio Øverland: The HR perspective at NTNU. Strategies for inclusion, diversity and equality.
  • The student organisations ADA and OLE to present the students’ perspective: Presentations and panel discussions/group work.
  • Associate Professor Brita Fladvad Nielsen from the Department of Design: Services for all – universal service design, how to include a greater diversity of perspectives in the service design process and service practice. How to relate to regulation and legislation on universal design of services and how to collaborate in a conscious way with user organisations, people with varying degrees of exclusion related to drugs, psychiatry, loneliness, age, disability, learning difficulties etc.
  • Associate professor Aud Witsø from the Department of Mental Health with students: On the project Inclusion in Higher Education National Institute on Intellectual Disability and Community
  • Guest speaker from Trondheim Municipality on the inclusion of refugees in working life.

There were also two presentations on the issue of diversity and inclusion: presentation of the Toolbox for gender balancing in research and education, and student disability office – measures for students with fewer opportunities-: presentation, discussion and group work.
