Strength in Leadership:
ENHANCE Members at CAM 2025

This year’s CESAER Annual Meetings (CAM 2025) in Brno highlighted something we know well: ENHANCE is strong because our member universities are strong. The visibility and impact of ENHANCE at CAM 2025 was not an achievement of the alliance as an institution, but of the remarkable individuals representing their universities – sharing expertise, leading discussions, and shaping the European higher education landscape.
Members Driving High-Level STEM and Higher Education Conversations
During the high-level conference “Shaping the Future of Higher Education in Science and Technology,” ENHANCE members contributed their knowledge and insights:
- María Alfonso Molina (Universitat Politècnica de València / University of Valencia) delivered a keynote addressing the long-term decline in STEM performance across Europe. She emphasized the importance of belonging, motivation, and foundational reasoning skills, linking research insights directly to teaching and learning practices.
- Martyna Maria Czudec (Gdańsk University of Technology), an emerging early-career researcher, spoke on the future of STEM pedagogy, offering fresh perspectives on student engagement and evidence-based approaches.
Their presentations demonstrated the depth and diversity of expertise across our member universities, reinforcing ENHANCE’s collective mission through individual excellence.

Engaging with European Higher Education Leaders
ENHANCE members also participated in sessions that connected directly with leading European policymakers:
- Justyna Lubośna (Gdańsk University of Technology) moderated a roundtable on governance models for European University Alliances.
- Ena Voûte, Pro Vice Rector International Affairs at Delft University of Technology and Chair of the ENHANCE Steering Committee, contributed expert insights.

In addition to these sessions, ENHANCE members had opportunities to engage with prominent figures in European higher education, including Vanessa Debiais-Sainton (Member of Cabinet of Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu). Other programme highlights included workshops on responsible internationalisation and sessions linking research to teaching, where ENHANCE members shared case studies and best practices.
ENHANCE Representatives Elected to the CESAER Board
During the General Assembly on 24 October 2025, CESAER elected its Board of Directors for the 2026–2029 term. Among the eight new or re‑elected Directors are three distinguished representatives from ENHANCE member universities:
- Ena Voûte – Pro Vice Rector International Affairs, TU Delft (newly elected)
- Toril Hernes – Vice President for Research and Innovation, NTNU (re-elected)
- Justyna Lubośna – Rector’s Representative for International Educational Programs, Gdańsk University of Technology (re-elected)
Their election highlights both their personal leadership and the standing of their universities within ENHANCE. It reflects how the alliance’s collective ambition is realised through the engagement and expertise of its members – now formally contributing to shaping CESAER’s strategic direction.

A Strong Alliance Built on Strong Members
Across keynotes, panels, workshops, and governance discussions, ENHANCE members demonstrated leadership, expertise, and commitment. Their engagement reflects the alliance’s core strength: the people and institutions that make it up. By contributing to high-level debates, sharing research, and taking leadership roles, ENHANCE members helped shape the agenda of European STEM and higher education, while reinforcing the alliance’s shared mission of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
We congratulate all our colleagues on their outstanding contributions and look forward to building on this momentum in the year ahead.
