Three ENHANCE representatives joined over 58 European university alliances at the European Parliament in Strasbourg for the third FOREU4ALL workshop, focused on sense of belonging and community-building in European University Alliances.
In June 2025, ENHANCE was represented at the third workshop of FOREU4ALL — an Erasmus+-funded Community of Practice that brings together all European University alliances to share best practices, foster peer learning, and contribute to the long-term transformation of European higher education. As an active participant in this initiative, ENHANCE plays a leadership role in co-steering the community's communication and dissemination efforts alongside CHARM-EU.
Hosted at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Workshop #3 brought together representatives from 58 European university alliances for two days of dialogue on community-building, shared identity, and the question of belonging within the European Universities Initiative. The scale of participation — and the diversity of perspectives in the room — was a powerful reminder of how much the alliance movement has grown, and of the vibrant community it continues to build.
Andrea Zestic, ENHANCE Chief Communications Officer, who served on the organising team, moderated the keynote panel on sense of belonging — a topic that resonates deeply with the work ENHANCE does to foster inclusive, cross-border academic communities. Other ENHANCE contributors, ENHANCE Student Forum Co-Chair Ole Marcelius Sivertsen, ENHANCE+ Project Manager at Warsaw University of Technology Grzegorz Ganczewski, and Mert Taskiran, one of our ENHANCE Buddies, attended as ENHANCE delegates, contributing to workshop discussions and gathering insights to bring back to the Alliance.
The conversations that unfolded — on what it means to build a genuine European community, on belonging and identity across borders, on the role universities play in shaping that experience — were thought-provoking and energising in equal measure. Our delegation returns with new perspectives, new connections, and a renewed sense of purpose.
We thank the FOREU4ALL organising team, our fellow panelists, and all participating alliances for making this workshop a rich and memorable experience. We look forward to continuing these conversations and bringing their outcomes into the work of the ENHANCE community.
