On 15 May 2023, the second part of the workshop was inaugurated as an education offer within the ENHANCE Alliance, lasting a week. Warsaw University of Technology organised the event as part of the Erasmus+ (Blended Intensive Program) in cooperation with two ENHANCE partners, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the Technical University of Aachen (RWTH). Thanks to NAWA funding, it was attended by seven students from Ukraine. The Center for International Cooperation submitted the application for funding within the framework of the “Solidarity with Ukraine” – European Universities program.

The inauguration was attended by Prof. Robert Olszewski, Head of the Department of Cartography at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at WUT, Anna Rolewicz- Kalińska PhD, Faculty of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering, Agnieszka Wendland PhD and Katarzyna Bargieł from the Department of Cartography at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at WUT and Anna Smulskaand Piotr Szczepański from Centre for International Cooperation.

The primary outcome of the workshops is to design a mobile, interactive exhibition in the field of smart, sustainable cities of the future. These activities’ objectives are to help students understand the importance and complexity of the smart city phenomena and the citizen-led needs these cities imply. They learn about recent technology solutions applied to this topic and how to recognise the potential of technology trends in their development. After this project, the participants will be familiar with basic ideas and theoretical concepts regarding smart cities, and they will be able to recognise the role of Sustainability Development Goals in this area.

The in-presence workshop in Warsaw was the continuation of online classes students had attended from 1 March. It will be followed by an exhibition of student projects at Warsaw University of Technology from 19 to 26 May.

The ENHANCE Alliance thanks WUT for organising this workshop attended by students from 8 universities from 6 countries: 6 universities of the Alliance and 2 Ukrainian universities as ENHANCE Network Partners (Kyiv Polytechnic University and Lviv Polytechnic University).
